Discussion on the Significance of the Role of Faculty Members and Students in Advancing the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a scientific seminar was convened on Tuesday, 2 December 2025, in the presence of the Dean of the Technical Administrative College at Duhok, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nawzad Rajab Zubair, with the participation of the Assistant Dean, the heads of the scientific departments, and under the supervision of the Quality Assurance Unit. The seminar was delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Bashir Yousif Ismail, Head of the Financial Technologies Department, and attended by a group of faculty members and administrative staff.
The seminar focused on providing a comprehensive and detailed presentation on the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which were adopted in 2015 by the United Nations with the endorsement of 193 member states. These goals seek to address a broad range of global challenges, including poverty alleviation, climate change mitigation, environmental protection, quality education, gender equality, public health, and various other socio-economic and environmental issues and other related area.
Furthermore, Asst. Prof. Dr. Bashir Yousif Ismail underscored the importance of developing and implementing an effective institutional strategy aimed at integrating the SDGs within academic environments, with the purpose of enhancing the global ranking and overall performance of Duhok Polytechnic University. He also elaborated on the pivotal role that faculty members, administrative staff, and students can play as key contributors in supporting, implementing, and advancing the achievement of these goals.
