Today, Monday, 7 September 2026, at 10:00 a.m., the Duhok Polytechnic University Council held its first regular meeting for the new academic year (2026–2027) at the University Presidency building. The meeting was chaired by the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Ari Adil, and attended by the Council members and representatives of the academic staff and students. During the meeting, several important scientific, academic, administrative, financial, and student affairs were discussed.

At the beginning of the meeting, the University President presented a number of directives and guidelines to the Council members with the aim of advancing the university’s scientific and academic standing. Subsequently, the items on the Council’s agenda were discussed in detail, covering several key areas:

Administrative and Financial Affairs: Monitoring adherence to official working hours by academic and administrative staff, alongside students’ attendance; monitoring employees’ compliance with working hours and the fingerprint attendance system; verifying the attendance of all academic staff; and reaffirming and approving academic staff members’ commitment to official working hours for teaching purposes.

Scientific Affairs and Higher Education: A decision was made to establish advisory councils and activate them for the academic year (2026–2027). The meeting also discussed ensuring that academic programs focus on developing 21st-century skills and addressing problems through innovative approaches, as well as approving a review of the strategic plan before (1/10/2026). The Income and Expense System, the Portfolio Management System (PMS), and the implementation of Business Development and Entrepreneurship as a subject in colleges and institutes were also discussed and approved.

Student Affairs: The official working schedule for the academic year (2026–2027), which commenced on (6/9/2026), was discussed, with the exception of first-year students pending their admission from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The meeting also approved the student admission plan for the new academic year across the university, determined the number of students, approved changes to department names, and reviewed preparations for the university’s graduation ceremony for the academic year (2025–2026).

In conclusion, the University President indicated that the questions, proposals, and recommendations presented would be implemented in accordance with the directives.
