Duhok Polytechnic University Council Holds Its Fifth Regular Meeting

On Monday, May 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. the Council of Duhok Polytechnic University held its fifth regular meeting for the academic year (2025–2026) at the university presidency building, chaired by the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Ari Adel, and attended by council members, as well as representatives of faculty members and students. Several scientific, administrative, and student-related matters were discussed during the meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, the University President presented a number of recommendations and directives aimed at enhancing the scientific and academic environment of the university. The council then extensively discussed the agenda items. Within the scientific affairs axis, the council approved the minutes of the Scientific Promotion Committee and emphasized the university’s participation and collaboration in three important international scientific conferences scheduled to be held during this summer:
- (ICAIEAS 2026) Conference in cooperation with the Universities of Zakho and Soran.
- (ICSSHR2026) Conference in cooperation with the “وعي” Consulting Center.
- (ICSSD 2026) Conference in cooperation with the Malaysian Academic Center (ACARES) and Erbil Polytechnic University.
The council also discussed the strategic plan of the Scientific Research Center for the academic year (2026–2027), in addition to guidelines related to journal ranking standards and mechanisms for allocating financial entitlements for research activities.
On the other hand, student affairs and dormitory-related matters were discussed, with particular emphasis placed on addressing student concerns. Necessary maintenance work for dormitory buildings during the summer break and solutions to electricity fee issues were also highlighted. Furthermore, decisions were made regarding the scheduling of second-round examinations, procedures related to summer training, and determining the ranking of top students (first, second, and third) for tuition reimbursement purposes for evening and parallel study students. Part of the discussion was also dedicated to the admission mechanism for institute graduates from ( IT ) departments into Technical Colleges.
Regarding administrative and financial affairs, the council discussed matters related to the university campus, graduation students’ tuition fees, monthly advances, and auction mechanisms. Data and contracts of permanent teaching staff were also reviewed in order to regulate their administrative affairs.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the University President stressed the importance of implementing the recommendations and proposals discussed during the session in accordance with the approved regulations, with the aim of providing better services for the academic sector and students at Duhok Polytechnic University.
