The UNESCO Delegation Activities End
On 30th of November, 2019, the UNESCO delegation to the UK has concluded. The delegation was 16 members from the Career Development Centers of the seven Technical universities of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, Higher Education Representatives and UNESCO staff.
During the five-days visit, delegates participated in several training activities, seminars and site visits at the Central Bedfordshire College and the University of Bedfordshire.
The main purpose of the visit was to benefit from the modern experience and practice used at the Career Advice Centres at UK Universities, especially in the field of leadership and management, how to use the available resources appropriately, how to deliver good quality services more effectively and continuously. Also, to know how to make good relations with the private sector and employers.
All indicators have shown that this visit was a success and will serve several purposes for Iraqi Technical Universities. But since there is a remarkable difference between Iraq and the UK in culture, economy, industry, technology, and policies of investment and labour market, in addition to the education system in all phases, at the moment many ideas and practices cannot be implemented. However, all efforts will be put forward to serve the students and the graduates more, to deliver Career Development Centers’ services in a better way and to make better relations with the private sector and employers.
