Conducting a Meeting with Micro-Internship Program Candidates
On Tuesday, 13th of July, 2021, the director of the Career Development Center (CDC), Mr Bewar Sulaiman Haji and in collaboration with the CDC program coordinator at Zakho Technical Institute Miss. Nazdar Nizar Ibrahim conducted a virtual meeting with Micro-Internship programs' candidates.
The purpose of the meeting was to congratulate the selecting candidates and introduce the program and its benefits for the students, university, and the private sector. Moreover, important topics were discussed; also, participants' questions and inquiries were answered.
The American organization IREX manages the Micro-Internship program with the support of the U.S. Department of State and in cooperation with the Ministery of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq. After the COVID-19 pandemic, the program was chosen as an alternative to the traditional Internship program, and it is operating virtually. The program aims to engage the 3rd year students with the private sector to participate in a series of training workshops to enhance their soft skills and be aware of the actual workplace and its operation. After concluding the program successfully, the certificate of participation will be given to the participants by the IREX.
It is worth mentioning that from the Duhok Polytechnic University, 19 students based on their specialists are participating in the program and will receive training from 5 companies and NGOs.
