It is our great pleasure to announce that the design of the redevelopment of Duhok Polytechnic University proposal has finished. Recently, the number of students has grown in the Duhok Polytechnic University (DPU) which the campus needs expansions to accept a larger number of students in a near future. Moreover, some buildings in the campus are in a bad condition which maintenance works are no longer able to keep the buildings livable. Apparently, there have been some extensions and additions of new buildings to the site. However, all those works have emerged as urgent works with no methodological approaches to the urban design in terms of critical analysis of the site, future expansions, walkway design, pedestrians, etc. As well as, no consideration to the up-to-date standards of the university buildings' design. A team led by Kawar Salih (the senior architect), and membership of six other engineers and architects for proposing a design for demolishing some old buildings of the Main Campus of the DPU and designing new buildings in their places.

The design reflects new trends in architecture in terms of sustainable campus design for providing a clean, sustainable and friendly environment to students and academics. The project is the master plan for the whole campus plus the architectural design of the main quarter of the campus. It will consist of the main building that will replace the old Technical Institute of Duhok as it will contain Lecture Halls, Lecture Theaters, Workshop Halls, Computer Labs, Power & Electronic Labs, Drawing Halls, Small Library and a Conference Hall as well as Office Rooms for academic staff in a tower. Additionally, it will contain a student center that will serve different functions such as the Career Development Center (CDC), Cafeteria, Exhibition, Small Shop, Photography, and Stationery.

It is worthy to be mentioned that the work was directly supervised by the Prof. Dr. Adnan Mohsin (President of the DPU) and the team consists of Kawar Salih (Architect and the team leader), Wan Amedi (Architectural Engineer), Lawand Askar (Civil Engineer), Khalil Idrees (Structural Engineer), Havgir Ahmed (Surveying Engineer) and Abduljaleel (Electrical Engineer). The project design has already finished and is underway to find the appropriate funds implementing.
