Conferences workshops participation

  • Bone research society and British society for matrix biology 14-16, June 2009 London UK

  •  The 2nd Asia Africa Conference of the WFSICCM (World Federation of Societies of Intensive Care Medicine) 25-27, April 2010, Dubai UAE

  •  Sepsis 1- 3, September 2010 Paris France

  •  18th International Symposium of Regulatory Peptides, 5-8 September 2010, Belfast Northern Ireland, UK.

  •  24th Annual Congress of European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) 1-5, Berlin 2011.

  •  As well as many conferences in Iraq from 1998 till now.

  •  I participated in several practical and theoretical workshops in the Uk (University of Liverpool, Manchester and Durham), Jordan (JUST university) and Iraq regarding to my area of research and specialty

  • I have excellent skills in cell culture, I used to work with several cell lines like monocytes, hepatocyte and bone cells, growing cells for differentiation or to study effect of some biological material for example lipopolysaccharides (the mean cause of sepsis in patient at intensive care unit and leading to thousands of death every year) and study the effect of these factors on gene expression and modulating the pathway of intracellular signals.

  • In addition, I have great skills regarding real time PCR through my working on gene expression specifically glucose modulation hormones receptors which include: insulin receptor, glucagon like peptide-1 receptor, gastric inhibitory polypeptide receptor, adiponectin receptors. Also, expression of proinflammatory mediators which include: interleukin-1, interleukin-6, and other cytokines. And confirm the gene expression through protein expression by using immunofluorescent antibody technique flow cytometry and western blotting.

  • By using these techniques and cell lines, I discovered for the first time presence of some gene receptors in hepatocyte and monocytes, and I presented this discovering in a conference at Belfast 2010 and had been published in Regulatory Peptides journal Volume 164, issue 1, 2010. Annual Congress of European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) 1-5, Berlin 2011.

  • I have interest in free radicals and effect of oxidative stress, I have published a paper in 2007 regarding this topic and working on another one right now.

  • Lecturer at Pharmacy dept.
