On Monday, 14 May 2018, the president Prof. Dr. Adnan Mohsin Abdulazeez and the coordinator of TIGRIS project of DPU Dr. Nawzat Sadiq Ahmed participated in a symposium entitled “TIGRIS Project Symposium”, in Sulaimani. This symposium was organized by Kurdistan Institution for Strategic Studies and Scientific Research (KISSR), Sulaimani University (SU) and Sulaimani Polytechnic University (SPU). The participants of this symposium were local partners of the TIGRIS project.

The preliminary programme of the symposium involved the presentations by each TIGRIS local partner institution on project progress and exploitation. Also, it involved the review of bi-annual reports and activities of the project as well as the round table meeting and discussion in order to outcome with the following remarks:

1-      To open an international office in each university for administrating the international students and internationalisation activities.

2-      To design a website for TIGRIS project and for each international office.

3-      To adjust and select some Academic Departments for accepting international students in the next year.

4-      To apply Bologna Process in such selected departments.

5-      To prepare academic staff for those selected departments by contracting with foreign staff and opening training courses for local staff in order to improve their skills in English language and teaching methods.

6-      To do collaboration research with researchers in abroad universities.

7-      To support the development of a national strategy on academic mobility, study recognition, & internationalisation;

8-      To reorganize the identification of conditions for recruiting foreign students, researchers & academics with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Kurdistan Region, Iraq.
